Howdy everyone. I know it has been a while since we returned, but I am now finally going to post a little more about our honeymoon and our many adventures. Saturday was our first full day in Maui and we decided to just hang out at the beach for the day. So we packed up a picnic lunch of cheese, crackers, salami, and apples and hit the road. We decided to drive to a few beaches and check them out instead of just hanging around our hotel. We figured we would have enough time throughout our week with random 1 or 2 hours when we could hang at our own beach. The first beach was Napili Bay. It was a pretty small beach that was away from all the big resorts. The picture below is a pic at Napili Beach and can see Moloka'i off in the distance.

We weren't there very long when it started to sprinkle. We both had our ereaders out, so I was slightly worried. And then sure enough, it started to drizzle quite heavily. So we packed up our gear and headed to our car. We soon learned that rain storms quickly come and go in Maui. Luckily, this was the only incidence that we were truly chased away.

For the first few days we had a hard time adjusting to the time difference. So we were at the beach pretty early in the morning. When we left after the rain shower, it was probably only 10ish. What better thing to do in the rain than shop? Whalers Village is a shopping area in Maui, so that's where we headed. Nate found this map/antique store where they had authentic original maps that were for sale for thousands of dollars. The one that we liked of Hawaii was for sale for $40,000. Do you think we bought it? Heck no. We bought a replica though and Nate was very happy :). After some shopping we were getting hungry so we decided to head to a nearby beach called Black Rock (by this time is was totally sunny again). At Black Rock we did some snorkeling and read our books. Some friendly neighbors next to us gave us some fresh bananas b/c they were leaving the islands. Yummy!!! They were fantastic for breakfasts in the mornings. We didn't see much snorkeling that day, I think b/c of a number of reasons. 1 - it wasn't the right time of day to snorkel, 2 - it was very windy and rough that day, and 3 - I don't think we ventured out to the right area enough.

For dinner that night we went into Lahaina, which is where all the night life is. We walked around a little, seriously contemplated picking out an oyster for a pearl, and ate dinner at Kimo's. I had ribs; Nate had ono (fish) stuffed with lobster.
We quickly went to bed after returning to our resort b/c the next morning was going to be early!!!!
